As the focus on Roald Dahl, our author of the moment, comes to an end the Year 4 team have taken on the challenge of creating a 'play-in-a-day'. WOW! What amazing work we saw today as the Year 4 staff and children came together to act out, learn songs, create an orchestra and make props and costumes for the Roald Dahl Revolting Rhyme 'Red Riding Hood'. They are looking forward to performing it to children across the school on Monday. We are all so proud of how hard the children worked together today (and will be working over the weekend to learn their words) and look forward to seeing their final performances.
In sports' news this week both the girls' and boys' football teams played their first matches. It is early days for the new teams and they unfortunately they both lost their matches. However, Mr Wilding, Mr Moran and Mr Ferguson can see great potential.
Mr Wilding was really pleased to talk to so many parents at the Year 6 SATs meeting on Tuesday. All parents that attended got the opportunity to look at past SATs papers and ask questions about how we organise the tests for the children. He also gave out free revision books to all.
Children across the school have been learning Harvest songs in preparation for our Harvest Festival on Wednesday. As pat of the festival, we ask that children donate canned goods that we can gift to a local charity. These will be displayed at our festival, where we will perform harvest songs to invited members of the local community.
And finally, in Times Tables Rockstars news we must congratulate all the Year 5 and 6 children who took part in Battle of the Bands. Year 6 won with Zala, Diana and Adrijana contributing the most correct questions. Working hard for Year 5 were Kaly, Kenny and Idris - Well done! All children from Years 2 - 6 now have log-ons and passwords. Please ask at parents' evening if you want more information.
