NEWS UPDATE!!! Well done £1791.76 profit was made from the Summer Fayre! This will all go to support your children in school! Look out for our new benches in September that the FrOGs have provided the funding for!
Wow! What a day!
Today was the day of Godwin's annual Summer Fayre, and what a fabulous day it was! The sun shone brightly, the atmosphere was electric and hundreds of you turned up to have fun and help raise money for the school in this superb event organised by the Friends Of Godwin (FrOGs).
The afternoon started with the entrance of the school parade, including Mrs Lines dressed up in her Ford car, the Duffields paying a tribute to Bobby Moore and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The inclusion of a horse in the parade had many of our children in awe of such a magnificent creature! Our parade competition, judged by Councillor Rodwell, gave 3rd prize to Miss Maduli and the Godwin Cheerleader Squad, 2nd prize to Queen of the Fayre Mrs Fluin and 1st prize to the Reed family with a tribute to the 60s Vespa! Well done to all involved!
The FrOGs had done themselves proud with stalls being run by staff members, current and ex pupils, parents, families and local business'. There was a steady stream of children and parents all day, eager to play games, eat an ice cream and socialise with the Godwin community. There were activities encouraging the children to be active, including the popular 'Pillow Wars', Vandome cycles and skatebording, the opportunity to talk to both Police officers and the army and games and refreshments galore. Amidst all this the stage held performances for the afternoon. This included performances from local dancing schools - Natalie's Dance School and the Sue Garner school of Dancing; Sing Up, local majorette troup, the Godwin Cheerleaders and local Tae Kwon Do company.
At the end of the afternoon the raffle was drawn, followed by the closing of the Fayre with 'Gunge the Teacher'. Mr Legget was the lucky teacher (and good sport) chosen (by cheers) to be gunged by the Prior family!
A HUGE Thank you to all the FrOGs for organising such a fantastic event. Thank you to all the stall holders, entertainers and staff who gave up their time to help run such an event. Lastly, thank you to all the families who turned up to support the Summer Fayre. Everybody really showed the Godwin Value of 'Working Together'. We shall let you know how much was raised as soon as it is calculated!
