From September 2019, we are changing our phonics scheme to Read Write Inc. This will be taught daily in groups across Early Years and Key Stage 1.
Children in Year 2 work on a combination of phonics and spelling rules, following the same Read Write Inc. scheme.
In KS2 there are small intervention groups to support children whose phonic knowledge is not yet fully established.
From Year 2 onwards there are timetabled spelling lessons. We use Read Write Inc. to support this in class. We ask parents to continually support their child in learning to spell the words on the relevant year group spelling list.

Read Write Inc. Spelling is a 15-minute-a-day programme for Years 2 to 6.
Using a proven approach underpinned by phonics, fast–paced lessons and an online subscription, Read Write Inc. Spelling prepares children for the higher demands of the statutory spelling assessments in England.
Keeping our parents in the loop
Our children's progress in spelling is assessed termly and parents are informed of their child's successes accordingly, alongside advice of how to support their child in learning the spelling lists as set out by the National Curriculum.
Writing samples from each year group, showcasing our English learning that has been taking place so far this term.
The progression in our English curriculum is clear through the work evidenced in children's books.
