We use the Read Write Inc. phonics scheme to teach phonics and early reading. This is taught daily in groups across Early Years and Key Stage 1. These lessons start with a short speed sound session where children learn to identify sounds and form letters. Children then work on using these sounds to read and spell words. As Year 2 children graduate from the phonics scheme, they continue to practise reading and start following the Read Write Inc. Spelling programme.
