Routine for home Learning packs:
INTERVENTIONS:
Attention & Listening activities - (see ‘Bucket time’ demonstration video on school website) this intervention is only used for children who needs encouragement to gain attention and keeping eye contact.
Literacy – Choose an age/ability, appropriate book, read same book to child each morning or evening, for 2 weeks, try to find book of interest such as: books that child can lift flaps or interactive books which makes sounds etc (videos of demonstration on school website)
Communication Table activities – These will be the children’s ‘Speech and language targets’, you will find baseline targets in the home learning packs or you may of received a speech and language report over the Christmas break, if you have received the report then use this as the targets are the newest ones set by the speech and language therapist. There are videos on school website and in the packs on how to set up and deliver communication table intervention at home. These are to be carried out 2 x a week for 5-10 minutes.
Rhyme Time – Try to gather a small selection objects to link with nursery rhymes which you are familiar with, for example ‘star’ for twinkle twinkle, ‘boat’ for row, row the boat and ‘cotton reel’ for wind the bobbin up, please do not worry if you have not got these exact objects, use objects which corresponds in some way to which song you are giving the child to make a choice. There are videos on school website on how we demonstrate this in class, please remember some children will not reach for the object they will just look towards the object this is how they are making their choice.
Workstation - See ideas of simple workstation activates in learning packs, (STEPS) look through the steps and decide which step to start your child on (baseline) then an activity from each section, ( e.g. construction, mark making etc) for 5-10 minutes 2 x a week. There is a video’s on school website to show how to layout and how to do the workstation activities.
Intensive interaction – This intervention is for children with limited eye contact – it builds up interaction between them and adults or children with other children (video to demonstrate on school website)
WEEKLY INTERVENTIONS ROUTINE:
Monday & Wednesday – Attention & listening, Literacy, Communication Table & Rhyme time. (Intensive interaction if needed)
Tuesday & Thursday – Attention & listening, Literacy, Workstation & Rhyme Time . (Intensive interaction if needed)
Fridays – Attention & listening, Literacy & Rhyme time. (Intensive interaction if needed)
