On Wednesday 22nd October governors joined us for our Harvest Festival celebration, listening to the children's singing and poetry performances. Mrs Amorim questioned how we could extend the celebration to include more of the local community, and Mrs Hindocha - our SMSC lead, explained that this was something we had tried to do, and we will be looking at extending our links with local residential homes for future celebrations.
On Wednesday 30th September the governors held a Strategy meeting at the school where they received training from one of the borough consultants.
On Wednesday 23rd September the school's Standards Committee met with the Leadership Team to look at the end of Key stage results from July 2015, and challenge the school on where improvements could be made.
On Tuesday 19th May 6 governors visited the school for the day. Between them they: observed lessons and interventions; looked at books; observed breaktimes and clubs and interviewed children.
They were very impressed with children's behaviour throughout the day and commented on how calm the children lined up at the end of breaktimes and lunch. They commented on the good displays across the school and quality of work going on in lessons. In interviews children showed that they knew a lot about e-safety and how to keep safe on the internet.
On Wednesday 7th May governors visited the school in the evening to look through children's books. They looked at writing and maths books across the school to see the progress that children were making and how the marking scheme was put into action. They were very impressed by the progress children had made with their handwriting and presentation. Governors could identify where children had made improvements in their purple pens following their 'green for growth' improvement points. They could also identify children's targets from the front of their books. The chair of Governors looked at samples of books alongside end of year assessment trackers to see assessment in action.
