What support is available for my child’s overall wellbeing?
We provide a happy, safe and secure environment for all children. Where children may have additional, emotional and / or physical needs, we are able to meet these in the following ways:
- Members of staff who are readily available to discuss your concerns
- Afternoon nurture groups for KS1 and KS2 children
- Lunchtime clubs for children who have social difficulties, have particular medical needs or who prefer not to be in the playground during lunchtime play
- Support for families and children from our Parent support advisor (Alison Lines)
- Health care plans for children with complex medical needs e.g. diabetes, epilepsy, severe allergies
- PSHE lessons and assemblies around wellbeing
- Full time learning mentor who runs groups and 1:1 sessions with children who have social / emotional needs or worries
- A worry box in every classroom where children can leave messages to staff (drawn or written down, or even just write their name) to tell adults that they need to talk
- CAMHS counsellor who visits school weekly and works with individual children for a block of 12, 1 hour sessions. (this is available only after discussion and referral from the SENCo, Head teacher or PSA and children will not be seen by the counsellor without parental consent and involvement)
- Support for families who have children with additional needs, including emotional needs, is also available through a CAF (also called an Early Help Assessment). See section on CAFs for further details. This gives access to outside agencies who visit school such as Young Carers and family support workers
