This year’s Summer Reading Challenge will run from June to September, offering children and families the chance to take part online and receive rewards for their reading.
Silly Squad, the Summer Reading Challenge 2020, will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter. Children taking part in the Challenge will join the Silly Squad, an adventurous team of animals who love to have a laugh and get stuck into all different kinds of funny books!
To take part your child will need to sign up and create a profile at sillysquad.org.uk. They can then set their own challenge to read any amounts of books during this time. They can read anything that makes them happy – comics, joke books, poetry, fiction or non-fiction; in digital or print format: from e-book lending through the public library service or from what they already have at home.
Each time they finish a book, they add it to their profile and write a review. Along the way they will be rewarded with activities and incentives such as badges, games and videos. They will also receive a downloadable certificate once they’ve completed the challenge!

Hello 3S!
Firstly, I hope you and your families are all staying safe and keeping well at home.
By now, you should have received your ‘Home Learning’ packs from school. These should keep you busy for a while!
In addition to completing your 'Home Learning' packs, there are many more things to do, both online and around your home. I will keep our webpage up-to-date so that you are never without something to do!
On a weekly basis, I would like all of you to:
BE A READER!
Please continue to read daily. Remember you can read anything from fiction, to online articles, to comics. Reading is reading! If you run out of things to read, please remember that Purple Mash contains hundreds of books to read and enjoy!
BE A WRITER!
Please rehearse all the joins we have learnt this year. Can you improve your handwriting? How many words from the Year 3 and 4 spelling list can you spell correctly? Can you write effectively for a range of purposes?
Please check Purple Mash for many writing 'to-dos'. There will also be spelling, punctuation and grammar challenges to complete.
BE A MATHEMATICIAN!
Keep logging on to Times Tables Rock Stars daily. We are continuing to perform extremely well. Mr Newbert remains impressed!
**This week, Year 3 are competing against Year 5** COME ON YEAR 3!!
