Times Tables
By the end of Year 2, your child must know their 2, 5, and 10 times tables. Please support your child in practicing these. Once your child has learnt these in order, you can challenge them by asking them times tables questions in a random order.
Every Friday, we have the Times Tables Champion (TTC) where children link with a partner and compete with other pairs of children to be the TTC. They answer times tables questions based on the set they have learnt throughout the week. Whoever answers the fastest remains in the competition until the final two who are then crowned the champions. The champions are then added to the Hall of Fame!
We have been learning to add 2-digit numbers using Numicon. Once we were confident in using Numicon on its own we learnt to use it to make a number line to help us add 2-digit numbers. Next, we are going to challenge ourselves by learning to use Numicon to subtract 2-digit numbers!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
