Your child has brought home a red folder for their reading books and reading diary. Can you help them to bring this into school EVERY DAY.
In their folder they will have two books that are linked to their current phonics learning. We ask that you read with your child 5 DAYS a week and encourage them to talk to you about what they have been learning in school. Every time you read, can you please sign the reading diary. If your child gets 5 signatures they are given a sticker on the class Reading Rocket which allows them to work towards a goal and subsequent prize.
Don't forget to read and enjoy other story books with your child as often as you can. Reading is not only a great way to share experiences with your child but hearing the language of stories and being interested in books is a vital step in their development. In class we have been talking about how to choose books and developing a reading preference; talk to them about the books that you have most enjoyed together. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the time together.
