We measured a variety of objects in class in metres, centimetres and millimeters.
Last week, the children learned how to multiply by 2 or more digits. This was quite tricky but we all succeeded as we worked hard. The instructions are below. Please follow them to practise at home as 2 questions in the arithmetic test require the children to use this method for a maximum of 4 marks! Have a go at multiplying by 3 digits too.
Today we were working with negative numbers and to put this into context we got the thermometers out to measure the temperature in our room and outside. Not quite cold enough for negative numbers yet! We also estimated and measured the temperature of our tap water. 19 degrees Celcius in case you were wondering.
Can you practise rounding 5 digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 at home?
