Good morning Year 3,
Well it looks like the rest of this week is set to be a hot one! If you are out enjoying the sun, remember what you have learnt about how to stay safe in the sun.
Maths
Adding money is a really important life skill that will help you when buying things. The video talks you through a method of working it out. Watch at your own pace and then try out the questions on the worksheet.
If you need more practice, ask an adult to give you different amounts of money and work out the total. You could also find the correct coins for this amount. If you go shopping or look online, why don't you look for different prices to add.
English
Today we will be innovating and coming up with ideas ready to write our lockdown poems tomorrow. This is a really important stage in the writing process to make it easier to write your final poem. Follow the activities on Page 24 and 25. You may need to keep coming back to it when you think of more ideas.
Spelling
The sheet below has sentences where there is a spelling mistake circled. Write the correct spelling in the box and when you have finished check you answers. If you get any wrong, practice writing them out 3 times. See if there any any ways to help you remember them.
Handwriting
Today we will be practicing the 'ing' join. Spend some time first warming your hands up and making sure that you are sitting correctly to get the best handwriting. Use the sheet to add the 'ing' suffix to the root word. When you have finished, write some sentences using these words.
Superheros Return!
Returning back to our work on superheros, today we will be designing our logo and writing out comic strip.
To start we need to do some research on different logos. What makes a good logo? How can you make your eye catching and memorable?
When you have look at different logos, you need to begin to design your own logo. We would like you to create 2 different design ideas. You need to explain explain why you have designed your logo in that way. Think carefully about the shape and colours you will use. Then you need to decide on your final design and draw it onto your shield. Explain why you chose that design over the other one.
The final part is telling your story through a comic strip. Have a look at some comics to see how they are designed. Plan your story out carefully so they fit the boxes.
Take a picture and share onto the blog.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
