*The government recommends that your children should be having 1 hour/ 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
This can be divided into amounts of time spread over the day and can include activities, such as play, walking, riding a tricycle/bicycle/scooter, doing different actions for 1 minute each (e.g. star jumps, jogging, jumping, hopping, balancing on one leg, marching with high legs and arms, bunny hops, touching the ground and then stretching up high etc.). Having family races, e.g balancing a small ball (or another object in the house) on a spoon or bat, a running race putting objects into a container or throwing objects into a container, an obstacle course which can be timed to find the fastest, a running race involving carrying water in a small container and emptying into a bucket (winner is the fastest person to fill the bucket up to the line or marker). The children will come up with their own ideas for races and obstacle courses too.
