Celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee!
The Gruffalo trail
We went on a school trip on the trail of the gruffalo. We managed to find all of the characters and enjoyed the activities that the park ranger did with us including making mouse houses, climbing on trees, making owls with natural materials and hooting like owls!
World Book Day
We have had a lot of fun reading stories from around the world. We did a lot of activities based around our favourite books and enjoyed trying on some African Kitenges!
People who help us 👩🏼🚒👨🚒👮🏼♂️👮🏻
We have been learning all about people who help us. Today we were visited by Dagenham firefighters and their fire engine! We had lots of fun learning new facts, asking questions and we even got to sit in the fire engine! We had such an exciting time!
We have been learning all about people who help us. Today we were visited by our community police officer Muna. We had lots of fun learning new facts about her job and the animals that help them too. We were very excited to try on some of the uniform she gets to wear as well.
One morning we noticed that it was very frosty outside so we decided to investigate our topic through real life experiences. We discussed that as the weather was so cold outside it had turned the water to ice and there was frost on the grass. The children went around the Outdoor Classroom to look at the ice and frost. We noticed the pond had frozen over, we made footprints on the frosty grass and it was so cold we could see our breath! The children could tell me when the sun comes back out it will break the ice into pieces and the ice will turn back to water.
As part of Remembrance Day we each made a poppy that was displayed around our school. To further help the children to learn about Remembrance Day we set up a trench experience, so they could imagine what it was like for a soldier in the First World War. The children had the opportunity to experience how the trenches may have smelt, the noises that might have been heard, the sights seen and a little of what it was like to be in a trench. This experience helped the children to understand how the soldiers may have felt and what it was like for them. The children really enjoyed the experience and it really supported their understanding.
We have been learning all about harvest and why it is important. We have spoken about why we gather food and how it helps people. We have watched videos of farmers growing their crops, the machines they use to cut them down and how they get ready for harvest.
Please enjoy watching our two harvest songs below.
