Our nativity
Green Class and Blue Class joined together to perform the nativity story. To tell the story they acted, danced, sang, did actions and played musical instruments. They performed the play to their families and did an amazing job, we were very proud of all their hard work. Here are some photos of Green Class before the performance looking excited to perform the show!
Making sandwiches
The children did a sandwich making activity linked to our key text ‘The Hungry Giant’. First we came up with instructions on how you would make a sandwich and then the children followed the instructions in order to make their own sandwiches. They had to butter the bread, cut the bread in half, choose and add a filling and then they put their two slices of bread together and cut them in half again. Then of course they were allowed to eat their sandwiches! This activity gave the children the opportunity to come up with instructions and follow them, use their fine motor skills to cut the bread and spread the butter and it was good for them to make the sandwich as independently as possible.
Green Class experiencing a trench
To help the children to learn about Remembrance Day we set up a trench for the children, so they could experience what it was like for a soldier in the First World War. The children had the opportunity to experience how the trenches may have smelt, the noises that might have been heard, the sights seen and a little of what it was like to be in a trench. This experience helped the children to understand how the soldiers may have felt and what it was like for them. The children really enjoyed the experience and it really supported their understanding.
