This year’s Summer Reading Challenge will run from June to September, offering children and families the chance to take part online and receive rewards for their reading.
Silly Squad, the Summer Reading Challenge 2020, will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter. Children taking part in the Challenge will join the Silly Squad, an adventurous team of animals who love to have a laugh and get stuck into all different kinds of funny books!
To take part your child will need to sign up and create a profile at sillysquad.org.uk. They can then set their own challenge to read any amounts of books during this time. They can read anything that makes them happy – comics, joke books, poetry, fiction or non-fiction; in digital or print format: from e-book lending through the public library service or from what they already have at home.
Each time they finish a book, they add it to their profile and write a review. Along the way they will be rewarded with activities and incentives such as badges, games and videos. They will also receive a downloadable certificate once they’ve completed the challenge!
