Maths
We would like you to have a go at the worksheet below. It covers everything we have learnt about shapes over the last 2 weeks so if there is something you are not sure about you could go back and have a look at that lesson.
We would also like you to spend some time practicing the times tables. You can either spend some time on Times Tables Rock Stars or ask an adult to give you some questions, maybe for a table you aren't so confident in. There are also some multiplication colouring sheets if you would like to have a go at those.
English
Today in English we would like you to focus on using punctuation correctly. The word document below has sentences and paragraphs where full stops, capital letters, exclamation marks and question marks are missing. Read the sentences aloud to help you work out where they go. To practice your handwriting, you could write these out and focus on your letter formation and joins. Remember the steps we use in class for neat handwriting.
To finish, have a go at the punctuation quiz. Let us know how you get on on the blog.
Handwriting
We will be looking at writing words with silent letters today. Silent letters are letters that can’t be heard when the word is spoken. Can you think of any?
On the worksheet there are some words with a silent letter which you need to sort into the correct column. Then use these words, and some of you own words which you may have found, and write a short piece of writing such as a story or poem.
Topic
Pack your bags ready for a virtual trip around the world! How many countries can you name. Can you complete the A-Z of countries? Use the map below to try and locate them!
Now pick some countries that you would like to visit. To start with we suggest visiting the Taj Mahal in India, try to spot some animals on safari in the Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya, travel along the banks of the Amazon River in Brazil or the outback of Australia. You might even want to take a trip closer to home and explore some of the great sights of the UK.
Buckle up and prepare for take off! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJx8rXK-Z_g (It's a bit long so you might not want to watch it all) Why not design your own plane using the powerpoint below!
Explore https://www.google.com/earth/ taking you to place all over the world. Use the street view icon (the little person icon in the bottom right hand corner) and pretend you are there!
Let us know where you go on your travels. Happy holidays!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
